Widely regarded as one of the design icons of the 20th century the London Routemaster bus is a symbol of the nation s capital and of the country itself, which is instantly recognisable worldwide. First introduced more than 50 years ago, the final examples were only withdrawn from frontline service, despite much opposition, in December 2005 and a handful continue in operation on two heritage routes in the Capital.
