Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. Reissued. Paperback. With an Introduction by Dr. David Bellamy. W. H. Hudson (1841-1922) was a fieldnaturalist and author who exercised an enormous influence on English letters before and after the First World War, and who, along with Richard Jefferies, Edward Thomas, Hilaire Belloc, E. V. Lucas and many others, gave intellectural and aesthertic depth to the almost uniquely British conservation moement. Hudson was born in South America, near Buenos Aires, but came to live in England in 1869. he and his wife led a somewhat gypsy-like existence, travelling around England often in very staightened circumstances. During this period Hudson wrote prolifically particularly on the wildlife of the country and developed a style which uniquely merged scientific accuracy and precision with intuitive perception. This book ranges widely and often wittily across such topics as 'Hints to Adder Seekers', A Sentimentalist on Foxes', 'The Toad as Traveller', to 'The Serpent's Tongue', 'Wasps', 'The Strenuous Mole' and 'Dogs in London'. This edition has a foreword especially written by the well-known naturalist of today, Dr. David Bellamy. 360 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.).
