The second edition of the Handbook provides a comprehensive guide to all aspects of Bill of Rights litigation. The first edition of this book - commissioned by Lawyers for Human Rights and the Law Society of South Africa for use by practitioners, candidate attorneys and students of the Law Society's School for Legal Practice - established the Handbook as an indispensable guide to all aspects of Bill of Rights litigation. The second edition retains the explanatory clarity that characterised the first, providing a clear, complete and up-to-date guide to all aspects of Bill of Rights litigation. The entire book has been systematically updated to incorporate developments in the law up to the beginning of December 1998. In particular, there have been substantial amendments to the chapters dealing with jurisdiction and procedures in constitutional matters and application of the Bill of Rights. Major revisions have been made to chapters on equality, freedom and security of the person, religion, socio-economic rights, access to information and administrative justice, access to courts and the criminal-procedure rights.
