Conley Mangum was born in Durham, North Carolina. Throughout his life he has spent most of his time hunting, fishing and being in the woods. This love of the outdoors was passed on to him by his late father, Harvey Lee Mangum, who himself was a big outdoor enthusiast. After working many jobs, his passion for the outdoors was finally rewarded when he was accepted to attend the North Carolina Wildlife Enforcement Officer School in Chapel Hill, NC in the spring of 1979. His first duty station was Warrenton, NC, from 1979 to 1993 when he was promoted to Wildlife Enforcement Sergeant and moved to Greenville, NC. Conley, his wife Margaret of 38 years, 2 children Kristen and Jenna and 8 grandchildren reside in Greenville, NC today after retiring at the age of 55 years old with 29 year and 8 months service. He is currently working as a Police Officer and will again retire November 30, 2017.
