Jack Brostrom Cofounder and Editor in Chief, Italian Wine Central Jack is a former Naval flight officer and intelligence officer with a master's degree in National Security Studies from Georgetown University. During his career in the Navy and as an intelligence analyst, his responsibilities often involved training and instructional systems design. After transitioning from government service, Jack became a book editor and writer with more than 300 titles in his repertoire, editing everything from travel books to medical texts. His personal interest in wine led to much crossover between his editing and wine education. Among other things, Jack wrote the innovative 2009 edition of the Society of Wine Educators'
Certified Specialist of Wine Study Guide. He also coedited
The Business of Wine: An Encyclopedia (Greenwood Press). He holds the Level III Award in Wines and Spirits with distinction from the WSET. Focusing increasingly on Italian wine, Jack decided to put his computer science degree and his analysis expertise to work by creating Italian Wine Central in a culmination of a lifetime of interests.
Geralyn Brostrom, CWE Cofounder and Education Director, Italian Wine Central A 25-year veteran of the wine industry, Geralyn has held positions in multiple channels, from wineries to retail operations. Building on a lifelong love of education, she enjoyed taking on the role of wine educator. Along the way, she became a member and later director of education and executive director of the Society of Wine Educators. Prior to starting Italian Wine Central, Geralyn was vice president of education for the importer-distributor Winebow, where her deep interest in Italian wines was forged. When not focusing on things Italian, she lectures on wine business topics in the Wine MBA program at Sonoma State University and teaches at the Napa Valley Wine Academy. Her professional wine credentials include the Certified Wine Educator from SWE, the Level III Award in Wines and Spirits with distinction from the WSET, and of course the Italian Wine Professional. A dual US–Italian citizen, Geralyn holds a BS in Management and an MBA in Marketing, which she put to good use in coediting
The Business of Wine. The Italian Wine Professional represents the synergy between two of her passions: helping others learn and the allure of Italy—its language, culture, food, wine, and people.
