Sharlene Scott Levin was born in South Africa, and by four days old, was placed in the hands of an unqualified doctor and his “baby yard.” Adopted by a wealthy and detached couple, Levin’s life was filled with torment and abuse. While her birth mother insisted Levin be placed in her birth father’s traditional Jewish roots, the upbringing she faced was littered with deception and lies. The pattern continued when Levin married an abusive man, whom she wondered if it wasn’t a marriage of convenience with a “price.” Levin faces loss repeatedly, but none more devastating than the death of her third child, whom she credits for removing the shroud from her eyes, and becomes the catalyst for Levin’s rise of courage and determination. Levin would need both to face the wrath of her abusive parents and husband, the attempt by her father to strangle her, and the financial ruin she would face after her father’s death.
Levin shares her story to help other people recognize the need to find their truth, to move beyond the obstacles placed by uncaring and selfish individuals, and to live life the way it is meant to be lived.
