Revival in India is the amazing story of how a move of the Spirit of God originating from the Welsh Revival spread to India in the early 1900’s. The children at Pandita Ramabai’s Mukti mission, among others, were greatly impacted by this great revival.
Many signs and wonders were part of this great revival. In Chapter 5 we get visional illusions of different sorts, such as seeing a girl on fire. In Chapter 6 we get wailing, laughter, trembling, visions of the Savior, and healing of disease. In Chapter 7, possession with a dumb demon and feelings like electric shocks. In Chapter 8 we get intoxication with joy. In Chapter 9, possession of demons, beating of breasts, and rolling on ground. We also get sounds of rushing wind, feelings of inward burning, and visions of fire.
Above all, they were not the abnormalities and the marvels of the movement at all. These consist in changed hearts and lives, in men and women transformed from darkness to light in a moment; and the very practical demonstration of this by the payment of old debts, by loving their neighbors, by an entire alteration of life. Without these real wonders the cries and visions and dreams would have attracted little notice.
May you be greatly encouraged by this story of how the power of prayer and men and women of all ages empowered by the Holy Spirit brought a great revival to their nation!
