See images. Fantastic book. About the book >.>.> The word Lebensraum as Wackernagel used it comes from a biological term meaning roughly habitat or environment. He intended it to denote "the whole complex of economic-material, social and cultural circum- stances and preconditions which in any way affected the existence and activity of the artist." It corresponds closely to the French term milieu characterized in Hippolyte Taine's writings as one of the essential de- termining factors for the nature of a work of art. The approach to art history represented in Wackernagel's book made it a pioneering work in what has since become a major trend. Wack- ernagel sought to focus attention on the relationship between Florentine art and the immediate conditions under which it was created. (SP). Artikel-Nr. Batch-FM392-G-9193
