As part of a projected nine-volume complete catalogue of The Frick Collection's wide variety of holdings, this set of books provides rich documentation of the furniture. The twenty-nine Italian and French Renaissance pieces, shown in Volume V, include cassoni, tables, cabinets, and chairs. Together Volumes V and VI present 101 pieces of French eighteenth-century furniture--desks, tables, chests of drawers, cabinets, and chairs--featuring major works by Boulle, Carlin, Heurtaut, Lacroix, Riesener, and Vanrisamburgh. Among the examples of French gilt bronzes are clock cases, andirons, candelabra, candlesticks, and mounted vases by Caffiri, Duplessis, and Gouthire.
