Kindergarten-Grade 4 Four sets of twins are the subject of this photographic essay on fraternal and identical twins. Using Ancona's excellent full-page black-and- white photographs to illustrate points, Rosenberg explains, in two or three sentences per photo, the advantages and disadvantages, the rivalry and closeness involved in being/having a twin. The text is simplistic and full of generalizations. One page of text at the end of the book, in a typeface much smaller than that of the main body of text, offers additional information not covered in the text. Twins, the Story of Multiple Births (Morrow, 1972; o.p.) by Joanna Cole and Madeleine Edmondson offers more information on twins in history, research, Siamese twins, as well as embryonic and fetal development. This title will interest children because of the subject and photos, but it contains very little information.Symme J. Benoff, Free Library of Philadelphia
