Laura Pinsky is the director of the Columbia Gay Health Advocacy Project. Ms. Pinsky is also a psychotherapist at the Columbia University Health Service Counseling and Psychology Service and in private practice in New York City. Paul Harding Douglas was the former co-director of the Columbia Gay Health Advocacy Project. He was a faculty member of the Cornell University Medical College and a senior research associate at the Cornell AIDS Clinical Trial Unit. They have based this book on ten years' work counseling and lecturing about AIDS at Columbia and consulting for the Gay Men's Health Crisis and other organizations. They are also the authors of a book on treatments and early intervention for AIDS and HIV disease entitled The Essential HIV Treatment Fact Book.
Paul Douglas died of AIDS in July 1995.
