Excerpt from Astronomical Observations Made at the Observatory of Cambridge, Vol. 16: For the Years 1844 and 1845
The objects embraced by the Meridian Observations of 1844 are the Sun, the Moon, the Planets Mercury, Venus, Pallas, and Ceres, and De Vico's First Comet, double stars contained either in Struve's Catalogas Novas, or in his Catalogue Of 514 Double and Multiple Stars published in 1843, Moon-culminating stars, and stars used for comparison in equatoreal observations, together with stars observed for instrumental determinations. The Meridian Observations of 1845 are confined to stars, the classes of which are those just mentioned.
All the observations have been completely reduced with the strictest attention to accuracy, and the calculations have all been scrupulously examined.
