The objects of the investigation were to determine the physical properties. Of a weld-rod after it has been deposited in a weld, the rela tive merits of various types of welds for thin plates, and the relative merits of various types of weld-rods.

The investigation has been limited to electric-arc welds and to static tests of welds.
