Le premier volume ayant été surtout consacré à faire connaitre la jeunesse de Schumann, sa lutte en faveur de l'art pour lequel il se sentait né, et le roman de coeur qui se termina par son mariage avec Clara Wieck, j'ai plutôt recherché, pour ce second volume, les lettres qui se rapportent plus spéciale ment à la musique. Le Paradis des sons et son amour pour Clara, telles furent les deux passions de cet être trop exalté à qui il ne fut malheureusement pas donné, après le struggle for life qu'il avait soutenu pendant tant d'années, de jouir avec calme et sérénité de la plénitude de ce bonheur, si longue ment désiré.
