Many valuable Treatises on Astronomy have been published, and laudable efl'orts made to disseminate the knowledge of this important? Subject But: a great proportion of the community still remain uninformed. 'they annually purchase an Almanack, and r cive some assistance from it; but much of 1t is unintelligible to them, and of course uninteresting and useless. Being in ameas= are precluded from the means of instruction, they imagine themselves to be incapable of understanding this science, and take it for granted. That they are inevitably doomed to remain in the dark. This impression leads them to treat the subject with indifi'erenee. Their indifference would be less lamentable.
