Inhaltsangabe

Moccasin production has been, and is, an enduring element of Chipewyan culture. Moccasins were previously made out of an absolute necessity for footwear, but today they are being thoughtfully created as a symbolic expression of Chipewyan culture.
This study looks at the present-day design, production and ornamentation of moccasins by the women on the Janvier Reserve at Chard, northern Alberta. The author compares the moccasins made today with those produced before the Second World War.
