Fu allorchè la dottrina del libero esame comincio a servirsi di essa, per mezzo de' suoi fautori, che la stampa fu sottoposta alla censura preventiva. Questa dava la falsariga al pensiero il quale divergendo trovava in essa una diga granitica.
