Excerpt from Bulletin of Class News, Class of 1881
The total Class roll is now 113, which, with 33 deaths and two names which are more properly included inthe roll of '80, makes up the full number Of 148 men connected in any way and at any time with the Class. Of these 113, several more lost sheep have lately been traced and by correspond ence brought again into the Class fold, - W. I. Boyer, William B. Myers, George H. Rice, etc., as detailed in the present Bulletin. Only one member of the Class, Julian G. Olds, now remains out in the open.
Of the 33 deaths, 25'were reported in After Twenty Years, the Class Record issued in 1901, and five more in the Reunion Book issued in 1906; and three have occurred or been ascertained since. The total of 33 deaths averages almost exactly one a year for'the 31 years since we entered college, and constitutes very little over one-fifth of the Class. It is our good fortune that, in comparison with the vital statistics of many other classes, this is a low average and a reassuringly small proportion.
