This progress report on the fad-fiu Joint Center fer Environmental and Urban Problems describes the nature and scepe of the Joint Center's research efforts during the last academic year, and fer the first three years of the Joint Center's existence (july 1, 1972 June 30, During this fourth year for the Joint Center, our research continues to focus not only on the land use/growth management issues that accompany Florida's unique environment and new development, but also on other tough problems urban governments face during this transitional period in American history. A.prime concern since the Joint Center's establishment has been the monitoring of significant state environmental legislation, especially the Environmental Land.and Water Management Act of 1972. Future plans call fer continued close evaluation of these crucial laws in terms of their effectiveness and responsiveness to overall state growth policy goals.
