The Subcommittee will receive testimony on the continuing problems associated with the Federal Aviation Administration Advanced Automation System (aas) program. Hearings held in March 1993 reviewed problems in the program and what the faa and its contractor, ibm Federal Systems Corporation, were doing to rectify those problems. Much has transpired since those hearings, hardly any of which could be deemed good news. In fact, the program has all the appearances of being in worse trouble than it was a year ago, particularly with regard to the potential cost of the program and when the system can be.
