Mr. Weldon. The subcommittees of Research and Development and Procurement will come to order. I welcome you all to the hear ing room today, and we start with sadness following the recent tragic loss Of our service personnel in Saudi Arabia and extend our deepest sympathies to families and the leaders of the Air Force for this terribly tragic incident. We are also saddened today with the services being conducted at this time for our distinguished col league and friend Bill Emerson, and for that reason, several of our colleagues will not be able to be in attendance who would have liked to have been here for this hearing.
