Fiir die Darstellung ist Einfachheit, Klarheit und Kürze das wesentliche Mittel. Ein System muss die Grundfragen ausführlich behandeln; die Einzelheiten deutet es nur an. Die Anordnung des Stoß°es findet ihre Begründung im ersten Capitol des ersten Buches. Die philosophische Sprache muss leicht verständlich sein, so dass ihr Ausdruck nicht missdeutet werden kann. Auf Worte allein kommt es nicht an, und desshalb soll kein einziger Ausdruck unbedingt vertheidigt werden. Wohl aber sollen die einmal gewählten Worte, welche scharf bestimmte Gedanken bezeichnen, ihre Bedeutung stets behalten und gleich mathematischen Zeichen bei der philosophischen Berechnung angewandt werden. Eine gegenseitige Verständigung ist das Erste, was in der Philosophie Noth thut, und dazu kann nur eine unzweideutige Sprache fiihren.
