Students of the history of French syntax will perhaps be interest ed in the laboriously compiled tabulations found here and there through the course of the book, dealing, for example, with such matters as the use and position of personal pronoun objects, the forms of negation, the forms used to indicate possession, and the use of the moods. It is hoped, too, that the extensive chapter on Verb Regimens will prove to be of some interest and importance.

It is very probable that some of my conclusions are erroneous, either from having generalized from too few examples, or from having drawn erroneous conclusions from the examples at hand. In this case, the assembled examples are at the service of more pro found scholars.
