A large proportion of the officers and many of the men had served in the National Guard, and in our regiment, as in all the others from New York, this service proved to be of value. Under the wise guidance of New York's present Governor, and of the Major General commanding the forces, the future training of the Guard will be such as to still bet ter fit it to enter upon the actual duties of a soldier in the field.
