It’s 1950, while surviving the horrors of WWII in London, Mary, an uneducated and naïve young English girl meets Charlie. They fall deeply in love, a love made stronger by the birth of a daughter.
When Charlie is away for work, Mary gets lonely and succumbs to the wiles of Archie, an egotistical Scot. Charlie discovers the deceit and is unforgiving, he leaves her. Mary is distraught and inconsolable.
Pregnant with Archie’s child, guilt riddled and afraid, she moves to Scotland with him. They live in a one room rat-infested condemned building in a Glasgow slum.
Archie proves to be foul mouthed and abusive, but Mary is stoic, she won’t be downtrodden, and is determined to rise above this poverty to give a healthy, productive life for her children. She has a plan.
Against all odds Mary Bray succeeds … with an outcome she could never have imagined.
