This volume is about how and when to use drugs. It covers the basic principles of clinical pharmacology and drug therapy, including pharmacokinetics and the clinical pharmacology of widely used drugs. It is organized in chapters based on major disease states and organ systems. The chapters have all been revised and updated, and include information on new drugs and those newly withdrawn. The chapter on drugs and endocrine disease has been reinstated. This book is designed as an undergraduate text in clinical pharmacology and therapeutics, as a revision aid for those studying for higher exams, and as a reference for practitioners.
