The first part of the text is devoted to anatomy, physiology, clinical history, examination and special tests. The balance of the book is disease-oriented description of clinical conditions. The book is intended as a guide to everyday clinical medicine, and focuses on the practical aspects of managing major disorders. The overall structure of the book remains the same as the last edition, but there are new chapters on: cystic fibrosis; AIDS; and ARDS (Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome).
