THE CRYSTAL SHORE: is an illustrated, educational science fiction story which begins in Cape Town, South Africa where four children on holiday in a creepy old mansion see something strange one night during a thunderstorm: what appears to be a curious, small, creature running in the garden. They later discover something very odd in an old coal room at the bottom of the enormous overgrown garden. The finding of a small, silver key eventually leads them to an underground lake and an unexpected portal, through which they embark on an epic adventure into a very strange world. 'It seemed to glow with an inner light and he decided to set it in the top section of an arch in the wall that bordered an area of the back garden where he was building a swimming pool. The design on the tile so fascinated him that he decided to incorporate the same pattern on the floor of the pool. Much later he took the boy to show him the wonders of what he had discovered. Time and again they returned to the place seeing sights no other man had ever seen before. Then one day something happened. Unable to make their way back they were forced to return to the place that they had discovered.'
