This memoir follows a young girl born in the ’20s in a small Southern mill town from the tragic loss of her mother as a toddler through the hard times that followed as she survived depression era poverty. With the love and support of many extended family members and her own perseverance, Linda makes her way to the big city of Atlanta to join the last class of the Cadet Nurse Corps. What follows is an amazing life story. The combination of her fierce drive to succeed and her striking beauty opened doors that she never could have imagined back home in Pelham. Working at the right hand of a famous physician and then married on television in 1952, Linda embraced her newfound comforts without ever losing sight of her small town roots. Join her in a look back on the sorrows and successes that punctuate her 80 years.
