PreS - Grade 1-- Catrina the cat waits impatiently for her owners to vacate the house because her cat friends are coming for lunch. When they arrive, the cats immediately begin to prepare an Italian feast because, "Wednesday is Spaghetti Day ." They cook up a storm and have a wonderful time until the school bus pulls up to the house and deposits the children. Utter pandemonium ensues as Catrina's visitors climb on top of each other, circus style, and leave the house cluttered with the remains of their feast. As the unsuspecting children offer Catrina a bowl of cat food, she strolls off to dream about the next day's feast because, "Thursday is Guacamole Day." The plot is pretty far-fetched, and even the most gullible child may wonder at these cats' enthusiasm for tossed salad, grape juice, and guacamole. However, the concept of a group of neighborhood gourmet cats is amusing. The cartoonlike illustrations are colorful, but nothing distinguishes Catrina and her feline friends from one another except for their coloring.
