Volume 3 of the Collected Stories of Robert Silverberg, one of the eminences of sciences fiction, gathers together from a vital and fertile period, the 1970s. Herein: the Nebula Award-winning story ‘Good News from the Vatican’, in which the first robot pope is elected; the Jupiter Award-winning novella ‘The Feast of St Dionysus’, about a burned-out astronaut finding ecstasy in an ancient cult; in ‘Many Mansions’ an exquisite time-travel paradox is made up of many murders. A total of 26 dazzling stories take us on a voyage to wealth of different cultures and futures from which no one will return quite the same.

“When one contemplates Robert Silverberg it can only be with awe. In terms of excellence he has few peers, if any. 'Beyond the Safe Zone' is not just a desirable thing, it is a necessary addition to the archives”
