Bullying is seen as a major problem facing schools in Britain. It can hamper a victim's academic career as well as lead to acute unhappiness. The aim of this book is to provide practical ideas for teachers to use in dealing with bullying, and to report on recent findings of research into the problem. The book explores what leads to bullying and why some schools don't seem to have a problem, the ways in which teachers can inadvertently encourage bullying and how victims can be helped. The perspectives of both children and teachers are considered and the experience and practicof both primary and secondary sectors are examined. This book is a product of two national conferences on bullying organized by Kidscape, but contains some additional chapters from other sources.
