Ryan is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He completed his Doctor of Ministry degree in pastoral leadership at Columbia International University. He spent his college years at Clemson University. There he took part in ministry with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Ryan has been married to his wife, Heather, for 20 years. They have four children: Bailey, Ginny, Victoria, and Micah.
