This publication is the first of a series of annual reference works covering drugs that have received regulatory approval during the previous year. This first volume, New Drugs 2001 contains descriptions of the more than 100 new drugs from 30 therapeutic categories that have been approved (or approved for major new uses) in the last several years. A brief introduction to each class of drugs provides highlights of recent developments in drug development and marketing for the corresponding disease category. The chemical, physical and pharmacological properties of each agent are recorded along with the chemical structure, registry numbers and an exhaustive listing of product trade names and manufacturers. Each record includes useful patent information and a history of the agent's regulatory approval. A comprehensive Subject and Synonym Index along with CAS Registry Number and EINECS number indexes provide useful entry points to the data. An extensive Manufacturer Directory provides convenient contact information.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
G W A Milne was a Senior Researcher at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, USA for 35 years where he worked on the use of spectroscopy for structure determination of organic compounds, and on molecular modeling in the design of drugs for the treatment of cancer and AIDS. From 1980 until 1998 he worked in molecular modeling and information technology at the National Cancer Institute, one of the NIH Institutes. He has been active for many years in the fields of chemical information and chemical computation and is the Editor of the American Chemical Society's Journal of Chemical Information and Computer Science and Gardner's Chemical Synonyms and Trade Names, Eleventh Edition (Ashgate).
