Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Sarah Rubin grew up splitting time between Philadelphia and an island off the coast of Maine. She spent most of her childhood playing dress-up, reading, and trying to get lost in the woods.

Sarah earned a BA in creative writing and history from Skidmore College in New York State, and after teaching dance and drama for a year, she moved to Winchester, England. She is the author of Someday Dancer.

At the top of the stairs is a large room filled with dancers. And in the middle is the most amazing woman I have ever seen. She is tall, larger than herself somehow. Like her spirit is too big for her body. Little bits seem to pour out every time she moves. The air bends around her as she prowls between the dancers.

I want to feel how those dancers look, like I'm flying.

As the dancers file out, the other woman, from the front desk, leads me into the room.

"Martha," she says to the teacher, "this girl wants to audition."

Miss Martha looks down at me.

I hesitate. Then somehow I find my voice. I ask, "What kind of dance do you teach? I've never seen it before."

She arches one eyebrow.

"A new way to move," she says.
