Toward a simpler world: The community idea

Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very good. First edition. First edition. Near fine in near fine dust jacket. Published 4 years after the author's death, this visionary endorsement of steps towards world community, is born of life-long service and reflection on the evolution and ideological conflicts of the world's nation states. As an agricultural economist and international negotiator and coordinator for agricultural and food operations, the author saw first hand the dangers and impacts of nation-state predominance and competition. He here proposes an adjunct complement to the work of the UN, that would cluster culturally compatible nation-states into community compacts; guided by a charter; and constituted within a secondary framework of self-governance for resolution of ideological barriers the a priority of the advancement of human welfare. The subsequent formation of the EU in 1993, provides a context for further examination of Dr. Hammar's proposals. His text is grounded in detailed experience and analysis of enduring practical and political conundrums of the modern nation-state system. Artikel-Nr. 13425
