Ba-room-boom-boom!

"Is everyone fueled up?" Dozer asked.

"Full to the top!" Diggit shouted.

"Me too!" Stretch added.

Tipper looked at his gas gauge. Half-full. I don't want to take the time to fuel up, Tipper thought. So he decided to lie. "I'm full too."

"Great!" Dozer said. "Let's get building!"

Soon they came to a bright red STOP sign. A family of ducks waddled by.

Next they came to a DETOUR sign.

"Follow me," Dozer said as he led them around the detour and back to the main road.

Uh-oh. Tipper was getting nervous. The detour took extra gas.

Then they came to a railroad-crossing sign. They waited and waited and waited for the train to pass.

"This train is too long!" Tipper whined.

"But you love trains," Diggit said. "Is everything okay?"

Tipper didn't want to tell them about his lie, so he lied again. "Everything's great!"

Finally they arrived at the job site.

"Let's get to work!" Dozer said.

Diggit began digging.

Stretch unloaded beams from a trailer.

Dozer scraped dirt into piles.

Everyone was busy. Everyone except Tipper.

"Hey, Tipper, could you take this load to the dump?" Dozer asked as he emptied bucket after bucket into Tipper's bed.

"Sure, no trouble," Tipper said as he revved away.

Tipper took off for the dump. But as he was going back to the job site ...

Sputter. Gurgle. Wheeze.

"Oh no ...," Tipper sighed. He had run out of gas. And now he was stuck.

Diggit, Dozer, and Stretch worked extra hard because Tipper wasn't there to help.

They waited and waited for Tipper to return.

"Maybe we should go look for him," Stretch said, peering up at the darkening sky.
