The English vote went almost solid for the Union. Out of the 46 5 members returned by England, only 125 were Separatists. The remaining 340 were Conservatives and Liberal Unionists. Thus England alone gave a majority Of nearly 3 to I in favour of the Union (340 Unionists to 125 Separatists, including the Nationalist member for Liverpool).
