Your committee have to report that they have examined several attorneys of the Supreme Court, and also the Chief Clerl: of the High Sheriff's department, and beg to report that the evidence taken preponderates against the system of the offices of Master of the Supreme Court and High Sheriff being held by one officer; but, the session being so far advanced, it will be impossible, before its close, to take all tlu evidence necessary to come to a definite and certain conclusion upon the subject, and even to lay before the House the evi dence already taken - ia proper shape and as an immediate change is not absolutely necessary, they therefore suggest that the further inquiry into this matter should be entered upon early in the next session of Parliament.
