Excerpt from Present Knowledge and Past Revealments Combined

There exists in the minds of most Christians the idea that our final redemption or dissolution depends upon our acttbns while in mortality. We believe that our re wards and punishments will be in accordance with our actions during this existence. Is it not unreasonable to suppose that an Alwise Father would send us amid these scenes of confusion and strife to work out such great results? It seems contrary to divine attributes; for the Lord has, and will continue to furnish conditions neces sary to the work required.
