HE bad reading, as a rule, Of clergymen is too well known - and even frequently acknowledged by themselves - to be dilated upon. Much of this, how ever, is due, primarily, to the fact that Elocution is most frequently neglected in seminaries of education, and afterwards in the various Theological Colleges; next, to the erroneous manner in which it is too Often taught; next, to the neglect of the Examining Chaplains in not making it one Of the subjects Of examination; and lastly, to the practice Of Intoning.

On these various points I prefer that clergymen should speak for themselves.
