Excerpt from My Best Friend: Being Six Meditations for the Quiet Hour
Some of these meditations were used at the Convention of the Christian Endeavor Societies held in Cincinnati, July, 1901. The substance of them has been used in newspaper articles, particularly in the Phila delphia Ledger in months past. They are gathered together here in the hope and with the prayer that they may be aids at the Quiet Hour of the personal Christian.
In the midst of life's hurry and bustle and work, even Christian work, we must stop and look to him, our Best Friend, our dear Jesus, to gain rest, inspiration, power. It is impossible to be a true man or a true woman, it is impossible to do work well, it is impossible to be happy, unless we thus draw near in stillness and worship, and meditate.
