The effort was made in this study to secure from as large an experience as possible, taking into consideration the time available to work on the problem, figures on percent of illiteracy, to correlate these figures with death rates from various diseases, and as many other variables as my time would permit, and, by the method of partial or net correlation, to hold these variables constant and thus more accurately.
