Inhaltsangabe

Excerpt from Dunboy, and Other Poems

IT may be well to inform the reader, in this place that the incidents in the poem of Dunboy are historical, not imaginary. The poem is written chiefly from the account of the siege given in the Pacata Hibernia, than which no fuller or more detailed account is extant. To found on the fortunes of Donal O'sullivan and his family an interesting historical romance, would be a noble and a patriotic work - one which has been suggested in one of his speeches by the illustrious o'connell-but the writer of the following poem has not attempted to do more than versify an existing authentic narrative, adding merely such minor details as may be supposed to have aecom.
