In the North Carolina State Government portion, all telephone numbers with only four (4) digits carry the 7 3 prefix; others are given in their entirety. When an asterisk appears beside any num ber, or in the heading telephone 704 is the area code; all others are in the 919 area code exchange.

We invite suggestions as to how we may improve future directories. Please let us know about any information which is not included, but you feel should be, and we will examine the possibility of including it in future editions. While we try to catch all the errors, some will be found and we encourage you to let us know about them. We make every effort to have our data as current as possible, but the ever changing nature of government prevents this and we apologize for inconveniences.

We hope this 1980 directory, and future directories will provide you the people of North Carolina with greater and easier access to your servants in the state and county governments of North Carolina.
