The first of these documents is a letter from the Master of Gray, who is frequently mentioned in the course of the Extract, to Wal singham. This letter,5 which is dated 29 Jany. 1585, commences with this passage, Sr. Albeit of late I wrot unto you 'yeat Robert Carvel6 coming unto me by your command, though without letter.
