IN the simple operation of vaccination it is pos sible to convey syphilis, leprosy, septicaemia, and perhaps tuberculosis, if due precaution is omitted. But the well-authenticated instances where even so common a disease as syphilis has been conveyed through vaccination are very few. The many evil results which are popularly ascribed to bad virus are due either to injury or irritation of the vaccinated part, to the accidental infection of the pustule, or to a personal idiosyncrasy which leads to the development of a rash, such as sometimes follows the ingestion of certain drugs or articles of food.
