A discourse that adds to the debate on the nature of representation in the early Middle Ages. Michal Kobialka argues that representational practices were 'enshrined' in the interpretation of 'This is my body' referring to the representation of Christ's body which no longer existed. He takes four epistemological fragments to illustrate his argument that images of the male and female body recreated in medieval drama and theatre were constantly changing and affected by different modes of seeing until they were stabilised by the constitutions of the Fourth Lateran Council in 1215.
