Designed to help managers master the art and science of leadership, this text supplies a four-part framework for leadership - the leader as director; the leader as problem solver; the leader as developer; the leader as delegator - to increase leadership skills. The framework, called the L4 system, teaches managers how to lead others in a way that maximizes results. The L4 system is based on research from hundreds of seminars. Although aimed at managers seeking to develop their skills, the book is also suitable for use in seminars as part of a training package.

General William Tecumseh Sherman is reported to have said that he'd always found being a leader easy-the hard part, he said, was getting people to follow. For today's managers this witticism speaks volumes. Amidst the sound and fury of our constantly changing, always uncertain business world, the keys to success are leadership and teamwork. As with great generals, the great managers are those who can instill their staffs with a sense of mission and motivate them to do what it takes to realize their common goal. This very practical guide arms managers with a set of proven tools and techniques for developing and leading highly motivated, highly efficient teams. But it also gives them something much more valuable-"The Leader's Window." Growing out of the authors' experience training thousands of managers through their Charter Oak Consulting Group, The Leader's Window is a revolutionary new paradigm for high-performing leadership. The key to unlocking the formidable power of The Leader's Window is the L4 System, a set of strategies for assessing your own leadership style and developing the skills you need to become a more effective leader. With the help of dozens of real-life case studies and profiles of a number of great political and business leaders, John Beck and Neil Yeager zero-in on the four archetypal leadership styles: director, problem solver, developer, and delegator. They analyze each for its relative merits in various work situations. And most importantly, they show you how to master all four styles and to deploy them according to the changing needs of your team and the individuals in it, as well as the ever-changing demands of the marketplace. "Battle tested" and refined in over ten years of use at a number of top Fortune 500 companies, the leadership strategies and techniques you'll find in this book are certain to help you maximize the full potential of every player on your team. With The Leader's Window in your comer, you'll more than survive the daily business battles ... you'll win the war!
