Inhaltsangabe

Prospective Financial Statements are presentations of an entity's financial position, results of operations and changes in financial position for the future. In recent years, the AICPA, IMA, and SEC have been heading toward requiring companies to provide more prospective financial information. The recent AICPA report, "Reporting for the Future", called for more prospective "prospective" financial information. With this abundance of new financial information, many professionals who are called upon to analyse this material do not know how to fully comprehend the information available. Written in a non-technical style, this volume shows them how to use this financial information effectively in making sound investing/business decisions for their clients, corporations, or themselves.

Over the past several years, the AICPA, IMA, and SEC have been pressuring companies to provide more prospective financial information. In fact, the recent AICPA report, Reporting for the Future, specifically calls for more prospective prospective financial information. While this may put added strain on the already overtaxed accounting departments that are asked to generate this material, it rewards investment professionals and corporate decision-makers with a potential gold mine of crucial financial information upon which to base strategic business and investment decisions. Unfortunately, there is precious little in the professional literature about how to analyze prospective financial information and apply the results of analyses to strategic decision-making. As a consequence, many analysts continue to use the techniques employed in the analysis of historical financial information on prospective information, often with disastrous consequences.

The first book to address that critical problem, Prospective Financial Statement Analysis provides CPAs and analysts with all the concepts, tools, and techniques they need to understand and analyze prospective financial information and to prepare various forms of prospective financial statements, including financial forecasts and financial projections.

The conceptual cornerstone of the methodology Dr. Kopczynski outlines is a unique systems approach, which views a business organization as a system of interrelated subsystems. In stark contrast to the traditional historical approach that breaks down a firm into progressively smaller fragments or components, the holistic systems approach described in this book focuses on the influence each subsystem has on one another and on the organization as a whole.

Practically speaking, the most valuable tool Dr. Kopczynski provides readers is a unique process model, a powerful engine that can be used to generate the most likely scenarios of future financial performance. This model—which employs, among other things, state-of-the-art computer modeling techniques and sensitivity analysis—allows analysts to assemble and integrate data effectively from the five key analytic phases of qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, strategic resource analysis, sensitivity analysis, and evaluation and conclusions.

The only book currently available providing clear step-by-step guidance on how to analyze all forms of prospective financial information, Prospective Financial Statement Analysis is an indispensable resource for CPAs who consult on investment decisions, as well as for financial analysts, venture capitalists, and other investment professionals.

An arsenal of powerful concepts, tools, and techniques for creating and analyzing all forms of prospective financial information

"The primary qualification for dealing with prospective financial information is the ability to deal with and appreciate change. It might be difficult to define the exact rate of change, but the reality is that change is inevitable, and the rate is increasing." — Frank J. Kopczynski

Thanks to beefed-up demand for more prospective financial information coming from the AICPA, SEC, and IMA, an unprecedented wealth of new financial information is now available to those who know how to use it. Unfortunately, no standardized methods currently exist for analyzing this potentially useful information. How do you pull the important information from the mountain of figures now being generated? Just as importantly, how do you apply the results of your analyses to making sound investing and business decisions? Find out in Prospective Financial Statement Analysis. The first and only book to provide a systematic approach to both the creation and analysis of prospective financial statements, it is an indispensable tool of the trade for CPAs, financial analysts, venture capitalists, and all investment professionals.
